You need to upload to the site and place a link to the picture. If you are not sure how to link the picture, I suggest you use the editor to write a draft post and put up your picture.
Next, view source and copy the code and place in the desire location. I suggest you use widget text box to insert the code you got from there.

Wordpress is a free blogging platform that anyone can use. A “blog” is an online journal, and is proven to be the most effective way of building a website from scratch with no experience.
But don’t let the words ‘journal’ fool you.
It’s not just a ‘diary’ to record your personal experience and daily ramblings.
